Could The Strangest Of All Wardrobes Inspire You?

If you want to design your own wardrobe, you may take some inspiration from some of the most novel wardrobes out there, but with your own little twist.

If the idea of being able to design your own wardrobe inspires you, it may not simply be because you want to make more practical use of space or have an unusually-shaped home. You might want to go further and try something especially novel.

There are, it must be said, millions upon millions of very ordinary wardrobes around the world, but also some rather strange, cute and truly fantastic ones out there – although which category any of them fall into will be a matter of opinion.

According to The Very Best Top Ten website, the top ten wardrobes include a wardrobe looking like a doll’s house, a Minions-themed wardrobe, one resembling a medieval tent, a red phone box, the most famous blue phone box of all – namely the TARDIS, and Battlestar Galactica.

Sci Fi And Fantasy Wardrobes

This sort of variety goes to show just how far you can go with your creativity. In effect, you would be doing with a wardrobe what many would normally do with wallpaper. You could imagine one of your children having Minions wallpaper, for example, while older readers may have had some themed around Battlestar Galactica.

In taking this further, you could expand these themes into other wardrobe ideas. For example, if science fiction is your thing, why stop with Battlestar Galactica or Doctor Who?

There are lots of great possibilities with Star Wars, for example: Imagine a Death Star, Tie Fighter, or Millennium Falcon-themed wardrobe, or even a Sarlacc, where, to paraphrase C3PO, certain out-of-date shirts may slowly disappear over a thousand years.

Of course, you don’t want to go too far down the road of hiding things where they cannot be found, as that defeats the general purpose of a wardrobe, although those of us who grew up with wallpaper themed on the 1979 sci-fi film The Black Hole might think along such lines.

Wardrobes Without Lions Or Witches

Just as you won’t really want a black hole in your wardrobe (most washing machines already have one for socks), you may also hold back a bit on any CS Lewis theme for your wardrobes, lest this provide a portal to another realm where it is always winter but never Christmas. However, there are lots of possibilities themed around children’s literature.

For example, you could have a leafy-looking one for Hundred Acre Wood, home of Pooh Bear, or a Hogwarts Theme for Harry Potter.

If you want to try a theme that will appeal to all ages, The Lord of the Rings may be the best bet of all. Whether you want the wardrobe to resemble a hobbit house from the Shire or even Helm’s Deep, you could create something truly exceptional.

There are some limits, of course; you cannot have a truly Mordor-themed walk-in wardrobe, for one does not simply walk into Mordor.

By looking at some of the most novel ideas out there, you can get plenty of your own and those mentioned above are just a few. You don’t have to copy anyone either, for your theme can be entirely your own, ensuring you have a wonderful wardrobe like no other.
